David now understood that his suspicions had been completely wrong. He was overcome with guilt at suspecting her of infidelity when she was clearly suffering through something alone. However, his remorse was swiftly set aside as his jealousy gave way to worry for his wife. Was she ill? Was that something serious? She was keeping it from him, but why?

The anxious spouse eagerly anticipated Katie’s return from the restroom. At last, he heard the door open while he was seated on the bed, his head in his hands. His eyes soared to meet hers. David leaped up to help his wobbly wife. Since she knew him better than anyone, he was confident that she would be able to recognize when he had solved a problem. He still only had a portion of the complete tale, though.
