He moaned when he walked over to the shower, though, abruptly. “Towel, Bailey,” said Katie, and the astute dog brought her towel. Bailey took something from the counter where Katie had left her phone, and David watched as his wife sat on the floor beside the shower. Was she going to give someone a call?

It took him by surprise to realize that it was an orange pill bottle. His wife said, “Good boy, Bailey,” with weakness. Please take my water.The devoted dog obeyed her orders with obedience. David observed Bailey take a tablet while lying down between Katie’s knees, her body tensed. He realized how much of his own nervousness he’d put down to her worries about her safety.
