Better Off Somewhere
Dorothy genuinely believed that the boy would be safer in an institution than under the same roof as his grandmother, who might harm him if she left her son at the orphanage. She believed that the boy would have a better chance of thriving in an orphanage. Dorothy was fortunate to spend some more time with her mother before she died. Dorothy then returned to the orphanage with the aim of taking her son with her when she returned home.

Dorothy, on the other hand, realized that Kevin was not his biological father. Dorothy then spent several years diligently seeking for her missing son. However, she has only recently accomplished what she set out to do. It was made possible by a volunteer organization whose main aim is to locate missing relatives.
