He ranks eighth all-time in wins above replacement and ranks 13th in career OPS. His total bases and hits is fourth-best in history and his career RBIs is eighth-best. At the time he retired, he held virtually all of the hitting records in the history of the National League and won seven batting titles.

Willie Mays (Major Leagues: 1951-1973)
One of the greats of baseball’s modern era, Willie Mays was extremely gifted both on the field and in the batter’s box. The Giants icon is among the most irreplaceable players in the history of baseball, having the third-highest wins above replacement among position players. During his career, he was extremely prolific, accumulating 660 home runs (the fifth-best of all time). He’s one of just three players with a total number of bases of at least 6,000. His OPS and career batting average look a bit pedestrian when compared with other greats on this list but Mays ‘other career statistics, as well as his legendary legacy, say it all.
