The Final Test Results
The day the final test results came in was one of the most nerve-wracking of their lives. They sat in the doctor’s office, holding hands, hearts pounding, waiting for the news. The doctor’s face was inscrutable as he flipped through the charts. When he finally spoke, the words came out slowly, deliberately. The treatment had shown some positive results, but there was still a long way to go. It wasn’t the miracle cure they had hoped for, but it wasn’t a failure either. It was something, a small step forward, and that was enough for now.

Adjusting Expectations
The results forced them to adjust their expectations. They had to accept that Katie’s recovery would be a marathon, not a sprint. There would be no quick fix, no overnight cure. It was a hard pill to swallow, but they did it together, leaning on each other for strength. They decided to take it one day at a time, to focus on the progress, no matter how small. It wasn’t easy, but it was the only way forward. They had come too far to give up now.
