There was a lot of speculation if Tarek and Christina were going to stay with each other after this. At long last, the fans finally got word about the fate of the marriage. In December 2016, the couple announced that they were splitting up. US Weekly released their joint statement, in which they said that instead of filing for divorce, they “had challenges in [their] marriage” and wanted to “re-evaluate the future of [their] marriage.” Moreover, the two of them said that they would stay on good terms and remain true to their fans. They also referred to the previous incident with the police and said that they went to consulting sessions in the hopes of working out their differences and saving the relationship.

Only a month after that, Tarek told People that they have decided to file for divorce. It looked like the trial separation only confirmed their worst fears! There were also reports that claimed that even though they announced the separation in December 2016, the two of them had not been together since the beginning of the year. At any rate, Christina kept quiet and stayed out of the limelight. From the look of things, she just let Tarek do the talking. In February 2017, however, she made a TV comeback by agreeing to be interviewed by ABC news. She did not reveal a lot of information about the breakup and chose to stay mysterious instead.
