Young Talent
During recess at her kindergarten, six-year-old Nadia and a friend were performing cartwheels in the yard when they were noticed by a married couple who were scouting for talented youth. This couple was Márta and Béla Károlyi – local gymnastics coaches. They pursued both Nadia and her friend classroom by classroom in hopes of recruiting them for their school.

Béla Károlyi was always a sports fanatic. First he was a hammer-throwing champion and then a junior boxing coach. He became involved in gymnastics with his wife, Márta Károlyi and together they became the couple who would pursue young talent like Nadia.
