At the time, she was even called “the loveliest and most gifted” actress by Newsday. She then quickly became a world-renowned sex symbol. This photo was taken in the late 1960’s when Jane Fonda was shopping at a grocery store in her neighborhood. This talented actress became even more successful in the 1980’s when she made her first exercise video, which incredibly became a hit, becoming the highest-selling VHS in history. She then continued to make 22 more exercise videos and also starred in numerous films. She is currently part of the cast of Grace and Frankie, a Netflix original show, where she appears with Lily Tomlin.

The famous comedian, Robin Williams, started doing stand up comedy in the Bay Area of San Francisco way back in the mid-1970’s. Raquel Welch is an American singer and actress. This is a photo of her during her performance in South Vietnam for her USO Christmas Tour in 1967. The knit mint dress she was wearing immediately became a hit. Bob Hope performed with her during the said tour, entertaining the U.S. soldiers who were fighting in the Vietnam War. Welch became very popular when she appeared in the movie Fantastic Voyage but she became even more famous for starring in the movie One Million Years B.C. The Groovy Era wouldn’t be the same without the amazing Saturday Night Live. The show premiered around the middle of the 1970’s. The lineup of the original cast included John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Dan Aykroyd, Garett Morris, Chevy Chase, Michael O’Donoghue, George Coe, Laraine Newman, and Gilda Radner. The show quickly became a cult favorite and set trends all over the country. The Baby Boomer demographic pretty much brought the show to mainstream TV. She got married to the producer and director Roman Polanski in January 1968. Almost a year after her marriage, she was murdered by the cultists Manson Family. They were formed in 1960 and the members were Paul McCartney, Ringo Harrison, John Lennon, and George Harrison. Jacques Dutronc And Françoise Hardy
In the picture is the famous French singer-songwriter Françoise Hardy as well as Jacques Dutronc, also a singer-songwriter. Dutronc was instrumental to Hardy’s success, having written several hit songs for her. They have been dubbed as “one of the most popular performers in the French-speaking world” and quickly won people over during the Groovy Era. The iconic Woodstock Festival was legendary in the Groovy Era. More than 400,000 people joined the festival to celebrate good music, love, and peace. In this photo, people are on their way to the festival, while others camp out on the roadside. “Woodstock was a spark of beauty where half-a-million kids saw that they were part of a greater organism,” said Joni Mitchell. It is said that an estimated one million people more wanted to attend the festival but couldn’t due to the serious traffic congestion.

This picture was taken on March 26, 1964. It is evidence of the one and only meeting of the two famous African-American activists Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. They were highly involved in the battle against racism and the promotion of equality in America. However, the two had the opposite ideas on how to do it. According to reports, they were supposed to meet again, only a week after Malcolm X was assassinated. They were planning to work together and resolve their differences on the issue of racism in the United States. Three years later, Martin Luther King was assassinated.

Elizabeth Taylor was known as the face of classic Hollywood throughout the 1960’s. This actress, humanitarian, and businesswoman is even considered the all-time seventh-greatest screen legend among female actresses. She later moved on to MGM where she was given her breakthrough role in the movie National Velvet. This 1944 film made her one of the most famous teen actresses at the time. She also broke the record and made history for being paid $1 million for her iconic role in the movie Cleopatra.

Dovima and Jean Patchett were among the most famous models of their generation, beginning their careers in 1948. The two were best known for being the faces of Dior’s “New Look” to the world after the Second World War. They also helped inspire fashion for many generations, including during the Groovy Era.

This picture was taken when Brigitte Bardot was on the set of the movie Viva Maria! which was released in the cinemas in 1965. She was cooling her feet at the time during her break from filming. Her role in the said movie earned her a nomination for Best Foreign Actress at the BAFTA.

The Groovy Era, especially the 1970’s, wouldn’t be the same without Farrah Fawcett. This picture was taken when she appeared on The Sonny and Cher Show in 1977. Aside from acting, Fawcett also succeeded in modeling. Her red swimsuit poster was so iconic that it became the best-selling pin-up poster of all time. She is also known for her huge humanitarian work with the organization UNICEF in some of Africa’s, Asia’s, and even South America’s poorest areas.

The picture was taken during the filming of the 1958 movie Vertigo. It shows the director, Alfred Hitchcock and actress, Kim Novak. The movie is based on the Boileau Narcejac novel “From Among the Dead.” Actually, Kim Novak was not the first choice to play the part, Vera Miles was, in fact, Hitchcock’s first choice.
