For 11 seasons, The Big Bang Theory has made us laugh, cry, and fall in love with science (although we still don’t understand half of what they’re saying); it’s the kind of carefree show that fans need. Since the show premiered in 2007, it has transformed into television’s highest rated comedy. With 11 seasons to binge-watch, we’re taking a look at how much the cast have changed from their first episode to the latest. And just how different they are off-screen, not all of them are scientists in real life! In 1988, Metcalf snagged the popular role of Jackie Harris on Roseanne, and many what a difference that made to her career. On The Big Bang Theory, Metcalf plays Mary Cooper, the mother of Sheldon, although she’s his polar opposite.

On TBBT, she was downgraded to a guest role as the producers just couldn’t come up with any new material for her character.

Of course the incredibly intelligent Amy Fowler makes the list! And guys, Mayim Bialik is probably as smart, or smarter, than her character. The 41 year old feminist has earned four nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award.

Meet Howard Wolowitz, an engineer and astronaut who had a very overbearing mother. Eventually he gets hitched to Bernadette and his character development is one for the history books. Most impressive though is that Nayyar’s role on The Big Bang Theory ranks him third on the World’s Highest-Paid TV Actors list.

Screenwriter/bartender Claire dates Raj for a bit and the lovely Alessandra Torresani portrays her character. The 30 year old has a black belt in taekwondo and has a film coming out in 2018 (Step Sisters).

The show’s producers sent out a heartwarming message after she passed, “Mrs. Wolowitz, every time you spoke, we laughed. You’re in our hearts forever.”
